AHOY POTENTIAL JUBILATORS!
As the new spring semester begins, so do auditions for Jubilation! Auditions will be held on:
Wednesday, January 28th, from 7:30 PM - 10:30 PM in 411 Kent
Auditions will be done in 10 minute increments, ie 7:30, 7:40, 7:50, etc. Please send Michael an email at msk2124@columbia.edu regarding your top three choices and your cell phone number so that he can give you a reminder on the day of the audition.
The audition itself will be composed of three parts:
1) Warm-ups and vocal range testing
2) Note recognition and rhythm/regular sight reading
3) Short solo of your choice (Christian or otherwise)
If you have any questions at all, don't be shy to contact Michael:

phone: 917-848-6538
General information about the group:
Group Size: 8-14 people, usually pretty flexible. Anything over 14 makes scheduling a nightmare and anything less than 8 makes singing any more creative arrangements nigh impossible. Remember that one (or more) person is usually soloing.
Time Commitment: About 6 hours a week. More on concert weeks clearly. We have two rehearsals a week (usually one during a weekday and one during a weekend) and attendance is a requirement for the group. We schedule them so that everyone can attend in the first place. This isn't saying that you can't be absent ever, but the group can't really progress unless everyone's there.
Performances: We have one study break, which is low key and usually in a lounge, and one concert, which is more upscale, each semester. We are also usually invited to perform at other events on campus, like for fellowships, events, with other groups, etc. We try to schedule in one trip to another campus to perform for another Christian a cappella group (called guest grouping), and they return the favor coming for our concert.
